How to Take Advantage of the Branding Evolution
The old model of brand building has been largely controlled by the technology available at the time . When communication was by paper, we had pictures that conveyed the slogan and message. This gave rise to the jingle when it went to radio, and then evolved into commercials with the advent of television.
This old model did not allow for audience interaction. All you could do was not read the copy, turn your radio off or look away from the screen. Such a branding process left the power of brand building largely in the hands of the originators. The company created its advertising, and people responded to it. 
But thanks to changing times, this is no longer the case.
Branding has now evolved to one of communication.
How?
We now send emails, post in blogs and have instant communication anywhere we want to send it. We are establishing the power of the audience over brands and are seeing how communication or conversation is the modern brand.
Building a brand is no longer the expensive process it used to be. It no longer belongs only to the rich advertising firms and is no longer in a territory for experts only. Since you can now host a website or blog for very little cost and even for free.
Brand success is the new direction online marketers have to take to succeed and to stand out of the crowd.
This does not mean that you have to hire expensive designers, etc. You can build your brand by using conversation, to start with. Talking is cheap.
It goes hand in hand with attraction marketing that everyone reads about today. Through conversation you are attracting customers to you by giving them a place to learn and grow and interact with someone that can teach them and learn from them.
It can start very easily on social sites such as Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Dig, Reddit, Slashdot
Reaching your target market has become much easier as these places have groups and lists which people choose to belong to. This helps you to not worry about where to find people for your market of choice.
So tap into people’s desire to talk and interact and be the place where they want to do this at.
